The Università degli Studi di Genova UNIGE was established in 1933 and today consists of 50 Departments, 11 Faculties, 20 Research Centers and 2 Centers of Excellence.
UNIGE has a strong participation both in EU Framework Programmes (over 100 projects in FP5, over 90 projects in FP6 and over 15 projects currently running in FP7) and in other important international research and cooperation programmes.
UNIGE ranks among the first six Italian Universities in the European competition, with peaks of technological research excellence in many crucial sectors (see CENSIS report).
The Department of Mechanical, Energetics, Industrial and Transport Engineering (DIME) of the University if Genoa, consists of five different sub-sections on its specific sectors and is responsible in the development and spread of teaching and research activities in the fielsd of Technical Industrial Physics (ING-IND/10) and Technical Environmental Physics (ING-IND/11).
In particular, the section related to Technical Industrial and Technical Environmental Physics, has acquainted with a great expertise in sustainable energy and noise control in the larger area of environment, energy efficiency and sustainability. Our research group in particular deals with sustainable energy and noise control.
Moreover, in the last year, it consolidated a know-how on environmental EU projects : FP7 CELSIUS, TRANSFORM, ENPI CBCMED , etc.).
